In years gone by, riverboats brought commerce and passengers bound for the grand hotels in the mountains to Greene County's bustling port villages. Today, Greene County is a pleasure boater's paradise with launches and marinas in many Hudson River towns, part of the great inland waterway that includes the New York State Canal System, the Great Lakes, Lake Champlain and the St. Lawrence River. Canoe, kayak and rowboat rentals are also available to explore the river, pristine mountain lakes and streams and tidal preserves.
