It's amazing to find so much history in such a quiet, unassuming spot. Eight generations of the Bronck family lived here, in Coxsackie, starting in 1662. That house -- still standing -- is the oldest in Greene County, and likely in the entire state. It's a history timeline -- each generation added a few rooms or an entire wing, It's an architectural jumble -- a mess, really -- but, literally, a walk through history. Just remember to lower your head in the older sections -- people were a lot shorter back then. Pieter Bronck? He was a cousin of the family that owned a huge estate in what is now New York City. That family farm is now known as The Bronx.
